In 2025, compliant privacy policies and terms of service are not just a good practice but a necessity for businesses operating in the US. The expanding landscape of state-level privacy laws necessitates a proactive approach to data protection and compliance, ensuring that businesses can operate ethically and responsibly while respecting consumer rights.
On Point Legal Tech is kicking off 2025 with a strong emphasis on ensuring compliance for both our own website and those of our clients. We know it sounds boring, but it's extremely important to ensure that your website polices are properly worded and updated regularly. We've added compliant policies that automatically update to keep our website safe from fines and lawsuits, and we're looking forward to bringing the same architecture to our clients' sites.
Most clients don't realize that the onus on compliance is strictly on the website owner, not the developer. Many websites do not have policies or have cookie cutter versions that do not cover your needs. Whether your website needs a Privacy Policy, Terms of Service, End User License Agreement (EULA), Disclaimer, and Cookie Policy depends on your business model, the nature of your website, and the legal jurisdictions in which you operate.
The final compliance steps include a Cookie consent button that requires website visitors to decide to how they want their personal information managed.
The new additions have multiple benefits including:
- Protecting the privacy of visitors
- Avoiding fines and lawsuits
- And most importantly, decreasing stress knowing your website is accessible and safe!
We've already set up the dynamic policies on our sister site at I Design LLC. On Point Legal Tech is in the process of adding all required policy documents, and will be done by the end of January 2025.
